Last night, at the Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie, Harry Shearer, Michael McKean, and Christopher Guest took the stage as themselves, not as Derek Smalls, David St. Hubbins, and Nigel Tuffnel.

Unwigged and Unplugged   (Pardon the cell phone pic)

So we showed up a little bit late.  Who can blame us with the weather acting up like it was?  Still, we paid the $30 VIP parking fee and ended up about 100 ft from the front door, basically right under the stairs leading to the entrance.  That meant we had a long 2 minute walk to the door.  Man, that parking lot is worth it at times, but I digress.

In the lobby, I hear the faint sounds of "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You", but there was something different.  There was no distorted lead guitar, no screaming, and no drums.  It was more mellowed, aged, and refined.  I kind of liked it.

As we made our way down to the seats, the band was playing a song from "A Mighty Wind".  Not having seen that movie, I won't guess at the title of it, but I will end up seeing the movie.

There were several songs, back and forth, between Spinal Tap and The Folksmen set lists, and the three performers on stage sounded great.  Not only can they sing, they can play, and you can tell that they enjoy it.

They also announced that on June 16 there will be a new Tap CD titled "Back From The Dead".  Interesting.  I need to look into that one a bit more...
